Teresa Janelle Warrington

Teresa Janelle Warrington, 69, of Big Spring, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Teresa was born in Anson, Texas, on July 8, 1957, to Wanda Janelle Spraberry and William Maurice Moore. A few years later, her family moved to Tyler, Texas, where she grew up. While in high school, she was a member of a female Explorer group that attended Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. She graduated from Texas Tech University in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics and married Dennis Gail Warrington in 1983.

Teresa devoted her career to helping others. She worked as a Registered Dietitian for Big Spring State Hospital, MHMR, and the Big Spring VA Medical Center. In 2000, she became the state’s first on-site administrator of the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home, serving in that role for ten years. Following a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, she retired in 2010 after more than 25 years of dedicated state service. She also served as president of the Big Spring Women’s Club from 2003 to 2004.

Retirement brought fifteen wonderful years of travel with Dennis in their fifth-wheel trailer. They especially enjoyed visiting Ruidoso, Santa Fe, and Port Aransas. Teresa also treasured Caribbean cruises with her family and later enjoyed memorable trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Paris, and throughout the Mediterranean.

Teresa loved her two children immensely and was extremely proud of the people they became. Her greatest accomplishment was the love, dedication, and guidance she gave them throughout their lives.

From their kindergarten and elementary school years at St. Mary’s Episcopal School, she was actively involved in their education and extracurricular activities. For years, she carefully preserved scrapbooks of their schoolwork from kindergarten through fifth grade. She believed in the importance of both a formal education and the enrichment that comes from life experiences. Teresa faithfully served in the PTA, never missed a school activity involving her children, enrolled them each summer in the local library’s reading program and Vacation Bible School, and encouraged their curiosity through family adventures. She helped them earn Junior Ranger badges at Big Bend National Park, enrolled them in Space Camp and Aviation Challenge in Huntsville, Alabama, and participated alongside them in both Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, including attending summer camps.

Teresa and Dennis faithfully served as Sunday School teachers at First United Methodist Church and were active sponsors in the church’s youth ministry. Teresa especially enjoyed chaperoning youth ski trips to Colorado and New Mexico, combining her love for students with one of her favorite hobbies. She also enjoyed caring for her houseplants and raising Yorkie puppies.

In her later years, Teresa especially cherished time with her adult children and grandchildren. She was a loving wife, best friend, mom, Nana Tess, and devoted Yorkie mom who will be greatly missed and forever loved.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Warrington; her children, Mark Warrington (Kaitlin) and Kelli DeFazio (Vincent); her grandchildren, Hannah, Shepherd, Gio, and Leo; her siblings, Lu Bomar and Bill Moore (Carolyn); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her maternal and paternal grandparents. She was especially fond of her maternal grandfather, Raymond Spraberry, who affectionately called her “Squeaky.”

The family wishes to thank the staff of Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Interim Health Care for the professional and compassionate care they provided.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Teresa’s name be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or a charity of your choice.
