Teofilo "Telly" Montanez, 84, of Big Spring, died on Sunday, April 8, 2007, in a Lubbock hospital. Vigil services will be at 7:00 PM Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father James Plagens, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.He was born on April 28, 1922, in Shafter, Texas and married Maria Inez Salgaldo in August of 1946 in Big Spring, Texas. She preceded him in death on January 16, 1990.Mr. Montanez was a lifetime resident of Big Spring where he had worked at Medical Arts Clinic for 30 years and then for Fiberglass Systems for eight years, retiring in 1988. He had also worked as a TV repairman throughtout his life and that is how he got his nickname, "Telly".He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and had served in the United States Army Corps during World War II. Survivors include three daughters, Rosie Montanez of Dallas, Julia Hartman and husband, Doug of Big Spring and Manuela Camarillo and husband, Cele of Altus, Oklahoma; four sons, Benjamin Montanez and wife, Virginia of Taylor, Carlos Montanez of Big Spring, Ismael Montanez of Dallas and David Montanez and wife, Alma of Altus, Oklahoma; four sisters, Mercy Yanez of Big Spring, Eva Morua of Oxnard, California, Lucy Garcia of Camarillo, California and Shelia Vasquez of Oceanside, California; 17 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by three sons, Gilbert, Rolando and Martin Montanez; one daughter, Theresa Bihl; two sisters, Manuela Bustillos and Aurora Morua; one brother, Ray Montanez; and a great-grandson, Sonny Montanez.
