In loving memory of Ted G. Harwood,I met Ted Harwood in the summer of 1979 when I started dating his oldest son, John. I didnt really know him. He was just my boyfriends father. In the past six months, we shared many trips to oncology and many hours in chemo. During this time, this very private man talked openly about his life. He grew up in Detroit, Michigan, met his future bride, Beverley, while they were both patients at the same hospital, and for fifty years he was an aircraft mechanic. He was also an active member of the Midland Amateur Radio Club, and he was a Skywarn spotter for The National Weather Service. He had a great sense of humor, he loved to fish, enjoyed carpentry, and he liked to turn up the car stereo when we listened to the music of the Sixties. But more than anything, he just wanted a little more timeto spend with his family. My father-in-law lost his valiant battle to cancer March 19, 2013.Ted is survived by his wife of over fifty-years, Beverley; son John (wife Josephine), son Doug, and daughter Heather (husband Mike), sisters Janet (husband Jim), and Betty, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. Speaking on behalf of the Harwood Family, we are all truly touched by those of you who have prayed for, called, and visited Ted these past six months, and we sincerely thank those of you who are giving your heart-felt condolences, now.In honor of his wishes, there will not be a public memorial service.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
