Ted Arnold Cheuvront, 87, died at his home on Thursday evening, September 27, 2012 following a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis.On July 1st, 1925 Ted Arnold was born to Ted C and Ruby Cheuvront in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he lived until he graduated from Lincoln High School and joined the Army in June of 1943. He attained the rank of Corporal and was a member of the 3rd Battalion and Service Group and General Headquarters of the Armed Forces, West Pacific. While in the Army, Ted participated in the battles for New Guinea, Luzon and the Southern Philippines and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, the World War II Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He was discharged in January of 1946, returning to Lincoln to attend the University of Nebraska, where he graduated in 1950 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.After returning from the war, Ted met Norma Maie Geer and they married on Christmas Eve 1947. They lived in Lincoln until Ted began his career with the Natural Gas Pipeline Company. During his 35 years with the Pipeline Company, Ted and Norma lived in Beatrice, NE, Pocahontas, AR, Great Bend, KS, Gary, IN, Mountain View, OK, and Naperville, IL. They were blessed with three children, Allan, Marylin and Dale. After retiring from the Pipeline Co, Ted and Norma continued to live in Naperville until they moved to Midland in late 2007.While living in Naperville, Ted was very active in Little League, coaching for several years, First Christian Church where he was a member for 40 years, and the Naperville Heritage Society. He was inducted into the Hall of Honor in 2008 after volunteering at the Naper Settlement for 22 years. Projects Ted worked on during his service included rewiring the Martin-Mitchell Museum and house, building a covered wagon, preparing buildings procured by the Settlement for display, and woodworking for the Naper Settlement store.Ted and Norma lived a very active life, participating in golf and bowling leagues, cross-country skiing and Bridge clubs. They loved to travel and visited Germany, Britain, Ireland, Australia, Tasmania, Fiji, the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, and Panama Canal as well as traveling all over the United States and Canada. When their health began to fail, they moved to Midland where Ted became very active at Manor Park after Norma's death in 2008.Ted is survived by his children; Allan Cheuvront and his wife Barbara of Littleton, CO; daughter Marylin Boomer and her husband Robert of Midland; son Dale and his wife Margaret of Omaha, NE; and his brother Maynard and sister-in-law Joann of Little Rock, AR; as well as 8 grandchildren and 6 ½ great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Ted C and Florence Ruby Cheuvront and his wife of 60 years, Norma.Services will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 2:00 pm, at Memorial Christian Church in Midland.
