Tammy Sue West, 57, of Midland, Texas, went to meet our Heavenly Father on August 20, 2016.Tammy was born in Midland, Texas to Audie and Betty Porter on December 20, 1958. After graduating from Midland High School she married Paul West on December 31, 1976 in Midland Texas. Together she joined with Paul in a life-long partnership loving Jesus, staying a good distance away from being inside the box and having so much fun it should be criminal. She worked tirelessly alongside her husband building custom homes for many years. Tammy’s keen attention to detail, organization and business acumen were equal parts critical to Paul’s carpentry skills in building their successful business. Despite the success and growth of their business, Tammy’s first priority was always to love and raise her daughters. Tammy worked tirelessly on and attended endless school projects, piano lessons, dance lessons (no jazz dancing allowed however), basketball games, track meets and backyard parties. Tammy’s love did not stop with her own daughters. She became a mother figure to countless of her daughters’ friends. Their house was often the sight of legendary pool parties. Her candy bowl was never empty. Her willingness to always be a host to young people was no accident. She knew opening her home and making young people feel comfortable was an avenue to impacting their lives for Christ. Tammy was also an amazing cook and was adept at feeding mass quantities of food to young men and women who had invaded her backyard as well as preparing fine cuisine for intimate dinners with her family. Tammy was a fantastic listener, nurturer and animal lover. Tammy loved with a passion equaled by few, and we celebrate her life and the ripple effect her love continues to have on us all.Tammy is preceded in death by her dad, Audie Porter.Tammy is survived by her husband, Paul West, her mother, Betty Porter, brothers Tony Porter and his wife Sherri, Tim Porter and his wife Cissy, and Stephen Porter, sisters Terrie Bennett and her husband Wes, Sandra Dobson and her husband Mark, daughters Hope Harrold and her husband Easton, Ashley West, and Paige Harris and her husband Michael, and grandchildren Addison Harris, Cade Harrold and Jonah Harris as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and numerous others she called family.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Unlock Ministries. www.opcamp.com/donateThe family of Tammy wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Hospice of Midland.
