From an early age Susan had a desire to help people, and while at Texas Tech University joined service organization Beta Sigma Phi. She later served on the Boards of Hillcrest and Bynum Schools and the Yarborough Foundation.
Susan took up stitching as a hobby while in college and continued throughout her life. She was very active with her friends at “Stitch in Time” and could be found there most Saturday afternoons when in town. Her family and friends felt special when they received one of her needlepoint projects as a gift.
