Susan Elrod Alexander, 76, of Weatherford, TX and formerly of Big Spring, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Baylor Scott and White All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth, TX. Memorial Services will be held Friday, April 7, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. A private family interment will be held at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 pm Thursday, April 6, 2023 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Susan was born on October 10, 1946 in San Angelo, TX to Hamlin and Emily (Beard) Elrod. She married Jim Alexander on December 28, 1974. They celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary this year.
She graduated from Forsan High School in 1965 and received her Bachelors’ Degree from The University of Texas in 1970 with a degree in Mathematics. She was passionate about teaching and taught high school math for 20 years. Her passion was making education fun and she instilled the love of learning into her students. Susan never met a stranger and her favorite topic was the Lord. She had unmeasurable faith that overflowed to anyone she was around.
She owned the Sunshine Christian Bookstore in Big Spring for 10 years where she enjoyed sharing the love of the Lord to every customer that walked through the door. She impacted many during this time. Her other passions included traveling, adventures, fishing, reading books, spending time with friends, grandchildren’s projects, and she never missed an opportunity for a good time. She always loved sports and after retirement she didn’t miss one of her grandchild’s games.
Susan is survived by her husband, Jim Alexander of Weatherford, TX; her son, Bryan Alexander and his wife Aline of Albuquerque, NM; her daughter, Ashley White and her husband Justin, and their three kids, Sydney 15, Madelyn 12, and Emily 8 of Fort Worth, TX; her brother, H.K. Elrod of Phoenix, AZ, and his daughter (her niece) Elizabeth Hudson of Houston, TX; along with numerous individuals with whom she created decades of long friendships.
