Steven Paul Martinez, 59, of Big Spring, died on Thursday, February 17, 2011, in a local hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Trinity Memorial Park with Monsignor Bernard Gully, officiating.He was born to Frank and Bernadette Martinez on August 6, 1951, in Corpus Christi, Texas.Steven attended parochial schools until 1967 when he attended Big Spring High School, graduating in 1971. He volunteered at the Veterans Administration Medical Center and enjoyed helping others.He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.Survivors include his mother, Bernadette Mary Martinez of Big Spring; four brothers, Frank Martinez and Dominic Martinez both of New York City, New York, Richard Martinez of Dallas and Anthony Martinez of Pasadena.He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Martinez on July 4, 2002.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring. My condolences to the Martinez Family.I was a friend of Steven every since 3rd grade at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School.I had the pleasure of knowing his family as well.He was a gentle and caring individual.Him and his brothers all were a lot of fun to grow up with.My thoughts and prayers are with Steven and his family.He will be missed and now may he rest with the Father in Heaven.
