Memorial services will be held in Midland, Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Christ Church Anglican.Steve was born January 3, 1961 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Harold and Charlene Culpepper. By high school, they had moved to Midland where he met, and married, the love of his life, Sherry Hicks. Together they have four children, three grandchildren and a beautiful lifetime of love, laughter and memories. In 1983, he began his career in the oil and gas industry. Over 36 years he became a licensed geophysicist had multiple patents as well as numerous business ventures. He was also a welder, mechanic and wireline operator…a jack of all trades. He was always eager and willing to teach and share his knowledge of all things. He found purpose and joy in helping others. He was a generous, enduring man giving and sharing of his time and talents.Steve was stubborn, determined, and opinionated on every subject and always had advice for everyone. He never missed an opportunity to debate, especially politics. The conversation ended well if in the end you agreed that he was right. His competitive nature worked in tandem with his fun-loving one and showed through his interests. He volunteered with baseball, softball, and PTA for his children. He was proud of his collections of sporting goods and participated in many golf and skeet tournaments. With his close friends and relatives, he held his \54th\ Annual Crawfish Boil, from the first year to the last….laissez les bons temps rouler. He loved music, dancing, football and relaxing by the water, be it a pool, lake or the deck of a ship. Steve was a humorous man with a nickname for everyone and all were given from the heart. He will always be loved and always be missed. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Culpepper; children, Charissa, Cassie, Steven Jr., and Cynthia; son-in-law, Mike Barbour; grandchildren, Lilith, Audrey, and Zachary Marshall; father, Harold Culpepper; sisters, Terry Foster; Christi Culpepper; brother-in-law’s, Randy Foster, Oz Dincer; Donnie Hicks; Scott Hicks; mother-in-law, Elaine Hicks; sister-in-law’s, Patricia Hicks; Kim Hicks; nieces and nephews, Cody and Tricia Seth and their children, CJ and James; Hannah Seth and her son, Hunter; Melissa Dincer, David Hicks, Katie Hicks, Kade Hicks, Hayden Hicks, Emalea Hicks, Brandon Philips and Morgan Philips. He is preceded in death by his mother, Charlene Culpepper and father-in-law, Johnny Hicks.Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Seth, Donnie Hicks, Scott Hicks, Chris Hatfield, Mike Tully, James Shravner, Trace Mavrin, Mike Lee and Eric Smith. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
