Steven John Alvarez

Steven John Alvarez, of Big Spring, passed away on April 16, 2026. His passing leaves a deep emptiness in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

Steven was born on August 26, 1964, to Enrique Alvarez and Angelita Heredia. He spent most of his life working in farming and the oil fields, where he was known as a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family. Through his strength, sacrifice, and dedication, he showed his love in the quiet but powerful ways that mattered most.

Outside of work, Steven enjoyed fishing, camping, and especially working on cars. He found peace in staying busy and joy in life’s simple moments. More than anything, Steven loved his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished great-grandfather whose presence brought comfort and strength to those around him.

Steven is survived by his loving wife, Irene Alvarez of Big Spring; his daughters, Stephanie Munoz (Husband Carlos Munoz of Big Spring) and Vanessa Alvarez of Big Spring; his sons, Ruben Alvarez (Wife Victoria Alvarez of Big Spring), Steven Moreno, and Israel Alvarez; 30 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Max, Henry, Pete, Joe, and Susano Alvarez; and his sisters, Gloria, Valentina, and Lola.

He was preceded in death by his father, Enrique Alvarez (of Lockhart), and his mother, Angelita Hereida (of Ackerly)

A service to honor and celebrate Steven’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.

Steven will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
