A sad ending or a new beginning? Promise unfulfilled or never ceasing? An earthly friend or God's newest angel? Wrapped in his family's arms or God's outstreached? Peace on earth or forevermore? Looking through a glass darkly or the clarity of Truth? Stephen, may you find a new beginning that never ceases, as God's newest angel. Embraced by God, may you have peace forevermore as you walk in the clarity of Truth.

Stephen was always quick to smile, and quick to make sure you were smiling with him. That rare type of person doesn't come around often. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Elaine Burrow left a message on December 23, 2009:
Bonnie and Red Words cannot express how much I hurt for you! Please know that you are in my prayers. Stephen and I had connected on Facebook in the recent months and I really enjoyed our chats back and forth. His special visits to see Pop and Mimi were much appreciated. For a young man to go out of his way to take the time to spend it with the "old folks" was remarkable. Pop loved talking with him. Stephen was such a good listener. Know that he touched many with his kindness...even his "old cousin". Love you both, Elaine
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Dear Bonnie, Red and family, I just heard the tragic news today about Stephen and Loree and I can't tell you how sorry we are about your loss. I'll never forget the first time I met Stephen, when he walked into our business at about age 6 wearing a suit and tie and carrying a briefcase, ready to assist his father with some business we were discussing. As you know we became close during his time with us in Lubbock and he always made an effort to make me smile with a clever comment. After he moved on to go to work with Red, he'd call me every so often to check up on me and tell me how things were on his end. Since I moved away 3 years ago I lost touch with him, and I'm very sorry to have missed the chances to speak to him and see how he was doing. As you know, I've always cherished your family and our friendship and wish I could be there to express our feelings to you in person. He was such a wonderful young man, and I'll always have a special place in my heart for him!

I HAD NOT KNOWN STEVEN FOR LONG NOR DID I KNOW HIM VERY WELL. BUT I THOUGHT HE WAS A VERY HANDSOME YOUNG MAN WITH A BEAUTIFUL SMILE. HE DRESSED AS IF HE BELONGED ON WALL ST IN NEW YORK. I LOVED THAT ABOUT HIM, HIS SENSE OF STYLE. HIS DEMEANOR WAS QUIET BUT PRESENCE STRONG. IT WILL BE VERY HARD TO SEE HIS CHAIR EMPTY ON THURSDAY. GOD IS SOVEREIGN. PLEASE TRY TO FIND COMFORT IN HIS LOVE, GRACE , AND MERCY.
