Stephen Douglas Church

Stephen Douglas Church, 68 of Stanton TX passed away on September 28th, 2023.  A visitation will begin at 5:00pm on September, 30th at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton.  In lieu of a funeral, the family will hold an ash scattering ceremony as per Mr. Church’s wishes.

Stephen Church was born on March 15th, 1955 to Douglas and Christine Church.  As a young man he spent days on horseback or in the seat of a tractor.  He served in the United States Army in Germany and Iraq.  He was a cherished father of his children, a beloved uncle to his nephew and nieces, and a treasured Grandpa to his grandchildren.  He was an intelligent man who could always be trusted to share his advice.

He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Greer, husband Greg Greer, their daughters Briley, and Jolie Greer.  His Son Jeremy Church, wife Kourtney Church, and their children Bradley Beck and Alex Church.  And his children’s mother Debbie Hildreth McMurry.  His Brother Scott Church, wife Stazie Church, their Children Michael, his wife Claire, Skyler, her husband Esteban, Kirsten, his sister Shelly Baird, her daughters Aubrea, husband Joseph, and Ashlea, her husband Jorge and his great nieces Callie, Layla, Cheyenne, and Olive.

He is preceded in death by his parents Douglas, and Christine Church.  And his most faithful dog Sandy.

The Family would like to express their eternal gratitude to Lamon-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home.  Their efforts and actions made coping with Alzheimer’s possible.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Lamon-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home, or the Disabled Veterans of America association.
