Stacia Scott Clark of Midland passed away on April 21, 2026. A visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 27, 2026 at Crestview Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Stacia was born on October 18, 1935 in Lockett, Texas to Stanton and Hazel Scott. As one of eight children in farm country during the Great Depression and World War II, Stacia grew up with hard work and strong family bonds that would last her entire life. She played basketball and was on the annual staff during high school. After working her way through Wayland Baptist College, Stacia began a life of service and generosity to all those she contacted. As a second-grade teacher, she served generations of children in Kermit as a teacher and Sunday School teacher, retiring after 42 years of teaching. Stacia married Jim Clark in August of 1961 and together they served the community of Kermit in schools and at church for a combined total of 75 years.
After retirement, Stacia and Jim moved to Midland and became members of Crestview Baptist Church. Stacia loved to cook, sew and help Jim make crafts in his wood shop. All of these talents she shared with a willing heart to family, friends both near and far. Her chicken pot pie, lasagna, jello salad, oreo dessert and banana bread were legendary among family and church members. Her life found a new joy with the birth of her grandchildren in 2003 and 2007. Until Jim’s passing in 2006, the two of them could be found babysitting or visiting first Claire and later Kalen. This close relationship only accelerated as the children grew. She could always be found at their activities, both in Lubbock and later in Andrews. Holidays and birthdays were almost always spent at Grandmother’s house. Stacia remained close to her sisters and brothers and their families throughout her life and was blessed to enjoy many family gatherings. She talked to family members on the phone daily. Stacia’s heart of service never stopped. She hosted family holiday gatherings and provided her much requested jello salad to funerals and dinners past her 90th birthday and into early 2026 when her health rapidly declined. She was then reunited with her husband and daughter in the arms of Jesus, hearing the coveted words “Well done, my good and faithful servant”.
Stacia is survived by her son Kyle Clark, his wife D’Ann, their children Claire and Kalen Clark of Lubbock and son-in-law, Jeff Jordan of Ft. Worth. Siblings include sisters Sharon Moody of Oklahoma City, OK, Glenna Schmidt of Amarillo, Texas, Patty Drolte of Mansfield, Texas and brother, Royce Scott and his wife Linda of Hoover, Alabama.
Stacia was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Jim Clark, her daughter Angela Jordan, her parents Stanton and Hazel Scott, her sisters Barbara Williams, Robbie Coufal and a brother, Swayne Scott.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards the medical professionals at Midland Memorial Hospital, the staff at Hospice of Midland and the caregivers from Cornerstone Caregiving. Numerous neighbors, friends and church members are also appreciated for their concern, kindness, support and prayers.
