I did not know Sophie White and I saw her for the first time the evening we were called to the home where she passed. As a police officer, it is always uncomfortable to get called to circumstances such as these. On this call, I was welcomed in the home by family and friends and showed to the room where Sophie laid in peace after her passing. I briefly spoke with a Hospice Nurse inside the room, and then went back out with the family. Without knowing Sophie, my mind was painting a picture, a picture that will last me for my lifetime. I could see her smiling and talking about how bright the day was and how spending time with family and friends talking about the West Texas sunset was the most important things. I imagined this after seeing her and meeting the people inside the home that evening. Things like this forever touch my life and help me understand personal things that revolve around life itself. When I left the residence I said a prayer for the people in Sophie's life, to help them understand her passing and for their grief to be countered by her love for them over the years. When you believe as I do, someone passing away is definitely a sad and sorrowful day, but soon you realize that the passing is not so much stricken with sorrow, but enlightened with hope and joy as it is considered a day of celebration. The passing from one place to a better place, as described by our creator. - My prayers will continue to be with family and loved ones during these times of holiday. God's peace is with you.

To Kenneth, Wendell, Sherry (and Barbara too) : So sorry to hear about your Mom. Such a loss to you and the world. She's a class act. The last time I saw her she was smiling........that's how I always remember her. Take care.

I am so saddened to hear about Ms. Sophie. She was such a sweet person and welcomed me and my daughter in her home on a number of occasions. She was a beautiful person, and that carried on in her family. You are all in our prayers and thoughts...
