Shyrlee Joy Reid “Nana”

Shyrlee Joy Reid (Nana), age 73, of Sand Springs, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 11, 2023.

She was born on March 8, 1950, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to her loving parents, Joy and Neal Ward.

The family welcomes friends and family to the visitation scheduled Monday, October 16, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch. Shyrlee’s life will be celebrated at Alive in Christ Lutheran Church, located at 2805 Lynn Street, Big Spring, Texas Tuesday, October 17 at 10 AM. Graveside services will follow at Coahoma Cemetery.

Shyrlee attended Wichita Falls Hirschi High School and Coahoma High School. She married James Phillip Reid, and together they had three children, Angela Lingnau, Shele Gilbert and LeeAnn Mueller.

Shyrlee worked several jobs serving her community at Cosden Credit Union, Security State Bank, Kopper Kettle, & Advanced Telcom. She and Phillip owned and operated Lakeway Grocery. Her hobbies included scrapbooking with her daughter, Angela and cheering on her grandkids. She was a dedicated Nana, always supporting them in their sports activities and school events. Shyrlee was an active member of the Sand Springs Lions Club, and she took great pride in her service to Alive in Christ Lutheran Church. She was also involved in the American Heart Association heart walk.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Phillip Reid, daughters & sons in law, Angela Lingnau of Fort Worth, Shele Gilbert and James of San Angelo, and LeeAnn Mueller and Matt of Stamford. Shyrlee, an amazing Nana, leaves behind seven grandchildren: Shelbie Miller and husband Mason, Justin Lingnau and wife Carly, Brandon Lingnau and wife Morgan, Sydnie Gilbert, Makenna Lingnau, Josh Mueller, and Shandlee Mueller. She also had four great-grandchildren: Palmer, Hayden, Callen, and Graham Lingnau. Shyrlee is survived by her sisters, Cindy Overton and husband Ricky of Big Spring, and Laura Anderson and husband Kerry of Coahoma, her brother-in-law Donald Reid and wife Delinda, and sisters-in-law Paula Reid and Linda Reid, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Shyrlee was preceded in death by her parents, Joy and Neal Ward (Mema & Papa), her in-laws, Earlene and Carl Dale Reid (Nanny & Papa), her son-in-law, James Lingnau, her brothers-in-law, Joe Anderson, Bill, Royce, and Mike Reid, and sister-in-law, Linda Reid.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Lutheran Hour Ministries or a charity of your choice in Shyrlee’s name. Shyrlee Joy Reid will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, and her legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
