Shirley Jean England, 81, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017 in Longview, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 9, 2017, at First Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. David Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.Shirley Jean (Horn) England was born on August 19, 1935 in Holdenville, Hughes County, Oklahoma to Ray and Stella Horn. She married the love of her life, David England, on May 21, 1951 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. In 1951, David and Shirley moved to Midland, Texas and raised four children, Pam, Brenda, David, and Terry. Shirley loved to spend her time researching genealogy, doing puzzles, bowling, playing basketball, playing piano, and cross stitching. Shirley was a devoted Brownie mom, Cub Scout leader, and laundry mat owner. She was also the sales manager of Sarah Coventry Jewelry from 1962-1967. Shirley was the treasurer for American Association at Malaysia and the secretary and treasurer for Los Patios Homeowners Association in Midland.Shirley is survived by her children, Pam and husband Bud Turner of Longview, Texas; Brenda and husband Jackie Kirk of Odessa, Texas; David Michael England of Midland, Texas; and Terry and wife Beverly England of Katy, Texas; sister, Geraldine Horn of Midland, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Marita England of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma and Pat Horn of New Orleans, Louisiana; 4 nieces; 1 nephew; and numerous friends.She is preceded in death by her husband, David England; parents, Ray and Stella Horn; siblings, Earl T. and wife Gilson Horn, Virgil R. and wife Winona Horn, James R. Horn, and Ruth and husband Roy White; and nephew, Ronnie Horn.The family would like to express their gratitude towards Reverend David Johnson and the John’s Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Midland, Texas or to the Samaritan’s Purse, P.O.
