Shirley Geraldine (Jerrie) Gee Moncada

Shirley Geraldine (Jerrie) Gee Moncada, 86, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023 in Eastland, Texas. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00pm, Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

Jerrie was born September 20, 1936 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Blanche and Roy Scarbrough. She was a proud graduate of Hobbs High School where she made many lifelong friendships. Jerrie married Bobby Gee in 1961 and they made their home in Coahoma, Texas where they raised four children Randy, Gary, Rodney, and Kim. Jerrie was a devoted wife and mother and took great pride in caring for her family. She and Bobby loved going to the mountains and took many trips to New Mexico and Colorado. They shared their love of the mountains with their children.

After Bobby’s death in 1981, Jerrie worked several jobs, but her most important job was always caring for her family and keeping her family together. Jerrie opened Gee’s Jewelry in 1982 where she continued her and Bobby’s love for jewelry. Jerrie began working as a rural mail carrier in 1992 where she met Mario Moncada. They married on April 14, 2000 and made their home in Eastland, Texas at Lake Leon. Jerrie and Mario were members of Lake Leon Baptist Church where they enjoyed the fellowship of their church family. Jerrie and Mario spent a lot of time visiting and caring for the many grandchildren they shared.

Jerrie was a true sports fan. It would be impossible to count the number of games she attended watching her children and grandchildren play all kinds of sports. If her children or grandchildren were playing, Jerrie was in the stands cheering them on and sometimes helping the referees. On Saturdays in the fall, Jerrie could be found watching the Texas Longhorns football games. She loved cheering for the Longhorns and talking about the games with her family.

Jerrie’s children and grandchildren are left with wonderful memories of looking at Christmas lights together, sharing big family meals, watching sports together, and playing cards. She will be remembered for her unconditional love and support. She treasured her family and nothing made her happier than having her family together.

Jerrie is survived by her husband Mario Moncada of Eastland, Texas. Her children Randy and his wife Vickie of Leander, Texas; Gary and his wife Andrea of Coahoma, Texas; Rodney and his wife Rachelle of Lorena, Texas; and Kim Gee of Eastland, Texas. Mario’s children Terri Townsend and her husband Kenny of Hamilton, Georgia; Amanda Rodriguez of Odessa, Texas; Frank Moncada of Fairlane, Oklahoma; and Heath Moncada of Big Spring, Texas.

Her grandchildren Brock Gee and his wife Melanie; Blake Gee and his wife Kassie; Rachel Gee; Sterling Faught and her husband Dustin; Kylie Barta and her husband Clint; Alexa Ballard and her husband Hayden; Abbie Hurtado and her husband Marcus; and Gage Gee. Her great-grandchildren Alex Zaragoza; Kai, Kase, Kingston, Lexie, Brylee, Kenyon and Leandra Gee; Braydn Garcia; Madilyn Castenada; Hudson and Grayden Faught; Evan, Easton, Brooklyn, and Swayzie Barta; Brooks and Brewer Ballard; and Harrison Hurtado. Her great-great granddaughter Londyn Galaviz. Mario’s grandchildren Luke and Ella Townsend, Mercedes, Cameron and Callie Moncada. Her brother-in-law Kayo Kemp.

Jerrie was preceded in death by her parents Blanche Berryhill and Roy Scarbrough; her husband Bobby Gee; her sister Sharon Kemp; her brothers Ronnie and Scooter Scarbrough.
