Shirley spent her youth living all over West Texas and Southeastern New Mexico, moving often due to her dad working in the oil field. Her outgoing personality, infectious smile, and amazing kindness to others enabled her to make good friends anywhere she went. Shirley represented Lovington as Miss Lovington and New Mexico when she was Miss New Mexico Runner Up. She graduated from Baylor University, majoring in Music and a minor in Childhood Education. She was a twirler for the Golden Wave Band and sorority member of Chi Omega. She spent 34 years teaching young minds of various grade levels, settling into Second Grade for most of her tenure. She played the piano for various churches throughout the years. Shirley was a strong Christian with a heart for others and helped with the youth at Hoffmantown Church in Albuquerque, NM. She loved researching her genealogy, which led her to joining the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She took great pride knowing her ancestors helped the United States gain its independence. Shirley loved her family and would always make time to be together. She always said her life with Randy never had a dull moment and she loved the adventures they shared. Shirley said she adored her two daughters, who brought so much joy into her life. Her grandsons kept her busy traveling to see one and supporting the others in their various sports and activities. She became a Facetime buddy with the youngest grandson every morning giving him positive encouragement. She encouraged their faith in God. She was an amazing mom, grandmother, wife, friend, and prayer warrior, bringing happiness with her generous spirit to whomever she met. She will be greatly missed by many people.
