Shirley Israel Carrigan, 67, of Midland, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her friends and family on Sunday, March 15, 2015.Shirley was born May 23. 1947 in Levelland, TX to Ann and James Israel. She moved along with her family to Odessa, TX at the age of 7 where she attended school. She graduated in 1965 from Permian High School where she was active in choir and sang in the girls' trio. She had a lifelong love of music. Shirley married the love of her life, David Carrigan in August 1965. They were blessed with 3 surviving children, Stephen Carrigan, Danny Carrigan and wife Amanda of Midland, TX, and Jennifer Carrigan Tamplin and husband Jeff of College Station, TX. Shirley was also blessed with 8 grandchildren whom she adored. Shirley is also survived by her husband, David Carrigan, her mother, Ann Israel, 3 sisters, Mary Arnold, Irene Stennett and husband Terry, and Paula Golden and husband Terry, all of Odessa, TX. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loving referred to her as “Favorite Aunt Shirley\. She is preceded in death by sons, Michael and Matthew, grandson, Bryce Carrigan, and her father, James Israel. Shirley spent many active years involved in various organizations, Permian Basin Christian Camp, CASA, singing with the Sonrise quartet, and church. She also loved playing tennis. Shirley's life will be celebrated with a memorial service in the chapel at Nalley, Pickle, and Welch Funeral Home in Midland, TX, Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 1:00 PM.
