Sherry Lynn Reed, 69, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Memorial Service will follow at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.
Sherry was born on October 27, 1955, in Big Spring, Texas, to Leon and Nina V. Riddle. On August 10, 1974, she married Billy Reed in Ackerly, Texas, beginning a beautiful journey of love and partnership that lasted more than 50 years. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and enduring love.
A dedicated and nurturing educator, Sherry spent her career shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher at Sands Elementary and Monahans Elementary. She was admired for her love of children, unwavering patience, and deep commitment to learning. Outside the classroom, Sherry was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, where her gracious presence served as a comfort and inspiration to many.
More than anything, Sherry treasured her role as a mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were truly the light of her life. She filled their lives with laughter, wisdom, and unwavering love—her legacy will continue to live on in their hearts.
Sherry is survived by her beloved husband, Billy Reed of Lubbock; her son Delynn Reed and wife Stephanie of Argyle; daughters Marla James and husband Carter of Midland, and T’Auna Edwards and husband Shawn of Lamesa. She leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Tyler James and wife Breeanon, Andrew James and wife Kennedy, and Brock James, all of Midland, along with Kellen Reed and Taylor Reed of Argyle. She is also survived by her brother, Gary Riddle and wife Brenda of San Angelo, and her sister, LeDeana Davis of Lubbock.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Leon and Nina V. Riddle.
Sherry’s gentle spirit, generous heart, and steadfast faith touched all who knew her. She will be remembered not only for her dedication as a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend—but for the grace with which she lived each day.
