Sherry Ashton Marshall, age 73, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at Midland Memorial Hospital on June 28, 2023.
Sherry was born on December 23, 1949, in Watonga, Oklahoma, to the late Bill and Billie Jo Ashton. She married her best friend and life partner, William (Bill) Joseph Marshall, on December 23, 1965, and they were married for 57 years. They were inseparable and built a beautiful life together.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister. Sherry is survived by her husband, Bill, daughter Tracy Shaw (Brent) of Pecos, and son JoBob Marshall, along with a granddaughter Lindsey Birch (Joel), and 6 grandsons, Bradley Shaw (Jayde), Tyler Marshall, Andrew Marshall (Nichelle), Conner Marshall, Jacob Marshall, and Logan Marshall. Other survivors include her sister, Linda Ashton, sisters-in-law, Carolyn Lewis and Barbara Marshall, and many nieces and nephews.
Sherry was known as “Mas” to more than her grandkids. Anytime she attended events to cheer on her grandkids, she introduced herself as “Mas” and wanted everyone to call her by that name. She always had frosted sugar cookies as treats.
Besides spending time with her family and friends, Sherry loved playing cards, and she had a passion for crafting, especially ceramics. While living in Pecos, she and her husband owned The Ceramic Shop, where she taught lessons and painted beautiful eyes on many pieces. When they moved to Midland in 2001, she taught ceramics at the Midland Senior Center and made many new friends. She retired from the Center in 2020, but continued painting for craft shows and friends.
At this time, there will be no funeral or memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Midland Senior Center, 3303 W. Illinois Suite 18, Midland, Texas 79703.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.
