Shelly Dawn Cox, 66 of Midland passed away on October 24th, 2026. Visitation will be held Wednesday the 28th from 5 to 7 PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Burial will be on Friday, October 30, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in Sweetwater at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Shelly was born on August 3rd, 1960 in Sweetwater, Texas to Sandra and Sherman Cox. She worked in radio as a traffic manager for years and loved her line of work. She made some wonderful friends working in radio and she loved them dearly. Most of you knew Shelly as the life of the party and her free spirit. She loved going to the casinos with her dad Sherman and loved spoiling her niece and nephews. She loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs. Some of her favorite things to say are “I love you so much it’s ridiculous” to her nephews. She also gave some good advice, one thing she would always say is “If nothing changes…nothing changes”, other things she said a lot was something her dad used to say “Call me if you need me, call me if you don’t”. She will be greatly missed by so many that loved her.
She is survived by her sister, Cindy Purdy and husband Richard Purdy of Midland and niece Angie Gleason (Snyder) of Midland, great nephews Jacob Martin of Whitehouse and Jordan Martin of Fort Worth, great great nephews Jackson and Grayson Martin of Whitehouse and her little dog Hannah.
She is preceded in death by her parents Sandra and Sherman Cox
The family would like to express their gratitude towards Hospice of Midland and Dr. Nandi Reddy and a multitude of friends and family that loved her very much. Special thanks to her good friends Dedi and Doreen for their moral support during Shelly’s last days.
