Shayne Lynn Terry passed away August 20, 2026 at his home in Midland, TX.
He was born December 10, 1970 in Los Angeles, CA to Charles Lynn Terry and Brenda Kay Terry.
Shayne’s life started out rough with Cerebral Palsy.
The doctors predicted he would never go above a second-grade level, and he would never walk. His mom had a goal to prove them wrong and she did. He did walk and by the time Shayne was in sixth grade he was helping college students with their math. Shayne would go on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech and frequently made the Dean’s list. Shayne‘s journey brought him to Midland with our family where he attained his master’s degree in psychology. He worked for many years as an LPC. He took pride in his education and the gift therapy brought to other people.
In 2020 Shayne had kidney failure from PKD. A grieving family shared their loved one’s kidney with Shayne, and we had six more wonderful years with him off of dialysis because of their gift. We are so grateful.
Shayne never married and had no biological children of his own. He chose to be another parent for Brandy’s children. He was beyond the very best uncle a kid could ever ask for. He saw them as his own.
Shayne spent his last days caring for his parents and he filled his duties beyond expectations. He loved his parents dearly. He and his Dad had many enjoyable restaurant outings and loved watching movies in their man cave together. His Dad was his best friend.
Shayne was preceded in death by his Grandmother Patsy Welcher, Grandmother Josephine Terry, Cousin Brandon Hunnicutt, Grandfather Edward Earl Terry, Uncle Aubrey Michael Welcher, Uncle Mitchell Hunnicutt, Grandfather Larry Welcher and recently his Mother, Brenda Terry.
Shayne is survived by his Father Charles Terry, a sister Brandy Sanders and her husband Paul, a sister JoAnna Riley Capri and her husband George. He leaves behind 2 Nephews, Charles Daegan Sanders his wife Jessica and Noah Robert Sanders. One niece Courtney Price and her husband Tony. The other joy in his life was four great nephews and one great niece.
Shayne leaves behind 1 Uncle Glenn, 3 Aunts, Pam, Shelly and Johnnie. Five cousins and one special Petal loved him too.
In lieu of flowers please make your donations to the American Kidney Fund or an animal shelter of your choice.
A private celebration of life is to be planned at a later date. Shayne has chosen cremation.
Shayne will be missed every single day. He will always be our champion.
“See you on the other side.”
