Sharon Kay Deweber

Sharon Kay Deweber, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home on August 29, 2026, at the age of 83. She is wrapped in the arms of those she has greatly missed, her parents Lorene and John Earl Smallwood, her brother-in-law Merv Hale, her nephew Jeff Hale, her great-nephew Mike Hamm, and her cherished sons Timothy Gallaher and Kenny Gallaher. Born on August 26, 1943, in California, Sharon’s family eventually moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where she was a graduate of Castleberry High School. She later moved to Midland, Texas, in 1979 to be close to her sister Jody Hale and her family, where she spent many meaningful years. Finally, she moved to Grand Prairie, Texas 16 years ago where she spent her remaining years.

Sharon took great pride in her job as a homemaker. She poured unconditional love into her role, creating a home where the door was always open, the food was always homemade with love, and no one ever had an empty glass. She was known for her effortless elegance, always looking perfectly glamorous with full hair, makeup, and a sharp sense of style, even when just cleaning house. She found joy in the simple things: traveling, shopping, going to concerts, and animals of all varieties—except mice, she absolutely hated mice—but especially her cats, Mark and Matt. Delightfully curious and admittedly nosey about everything, Sharon would spend hours with her family happily listening to them discuss what was going on in their lives and giving the best, most thoughtful advice when needed.

Sharon’s life was defined by her extraordinary strength and selflessness. Though she carried the deep ache of losing her two oldest children to cancer, she chose to live and love with an open heart. Sharon was feisty and stubborn, had a wicked sense of humor, a laugh that would light up the room, and a gentle soul that will greatly be missed by those she leaves behind. She was forever a sanctuary for her family. She will be fondly remembered with a Winston in her hand and a Coca-Cola always within reach.

She leaves behind a legacy of fierce love and beautiful memories. Sharon is survived by her devoted husband, Gene Gallaher; her sister, Jody Hale; her daughters, Sherry Maruska, Renay Ressel, and Nikki Day; her son-in-law, Jason Day; her daughter-in-law, Lare Gallaher; and the son of her heart and favorite dance partner, Chris Gallaher. Her love lives on through her grandchildren, Jeryk Gallaher, Kobe Maruska, Ashlynn and Chance Wagner, Stori and Jordan Kidd, Claire Gallaher, Winter Lomme, and Falon Van Fossen; her precious great-grandchildren, Jacik Gallaher, Rylan Robertson, Kloe Kidd, Declynn Wagner, and Ronan Wagner; her niece, Jamie Hamm and her husband Ric; as well as her great-nieces and their families.

Her love will forever remain the foundation of the family she built.
