Sandra Rogers O’Brien peacefully passed away on August 28, 2016. She was born in San Antonio on September 5, 1935 to Teadye and Dick Rogers. She and her younger sister, Sara, lived with their parents in Dilley, Texas until the family moved to Alpine, Texas in 1950. Sandra attended the University of Texas and later, Sul Ross State College where she received a teaching degree. She married, was active in ranch life, and raised a family. She leaves many friends and family in Brewster county. She moved to Midland in 1976. She married George H. O’Brien, Jr. in July of 1979 and was his constant companion until his passing in March of 2005. During their time together, Sandra and George enjoyed traveling to various Congressional Medal of Honor Society meetings and functions around the world.Sandra became diabetic as a teenager and helped other diabetics to manage the disease. She was known for her hospitality, keen sense of humor, and immaculate home.She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Sara and Phil McGaughy of Atlanta, Georgia; son, Dick Holland and wife, Jody; daughter, Ann Daughtery and husband, Mark, of Alpine, Texas; daughter, Dorothy Stillwell and husband, Frank, of Ft. Worth, Texas; nine grandchildren including, Beth, Crista, Alicia, Asa, Luke, Gage, Grace, Ann Marie, and Sara; plus, two great grandchildren, Dorothy and Alfred.Graveside services will be on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Texas State Cemetery in Austin, Texas.The family requests that in lieu of flowers, any donations be made to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, P.O.
