Sandra (Sandy) Bramlett Basham passed away peacefully at Midland Memorial Hospital Wednesday, April 8th at 10:50 a.m. She had just turned 90 last month. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday, April 10, 2015 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland.Born in Waxahachie, Texas on March 18, 1925 to Charlie and Lola Thompson, Sandy was a devoted wife and mother of four children. Her entire tennis playing family was voted Texas Tennis Family of the Year in 1980 and all the children were college graduates, as well as highly ranked tennis players.In 1942, Sandy graduated from Lamar High School in Houston and subsequently graduated from Florida State College for Women. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James E. Bramlett in 1996, whom she married in 1949, and by her daughter, Cindy Bramlett Vogel in 2001. Survivors include her husband, William L. Basham whom she married on 01/01/2001 (they traveled extensively, danced and played tennis together during their golden years); children Barbara Bramlett Starnes, husband Raymond, of Gardendale, Jeffrey Tod Bramlett, wife Lori, of Granbury and Jill Bramlett Douglas, husband Steven, of Plano; grandchildren Brandy Bruzgo of Quakertown, PA, Hunter Hazen of Yukon, OK, James and Kate Bramlett of Granbury, Sami and Hutton Douglas of Plano; and great grandchildren Mason and Grant Bruzgo and Cindy and Hunt Hazen.Sandy was a member of St. Luke's Methodist Church and Keystone Sunday School.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland with a private family graveside service.
