Samuel Lee Cunningham, 62, of Midland passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013. There will be a public viewing on Sunday, October 13, 2013 from 5:00-7:00PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Monday, October 14, 2013 at 11:00AM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel with Brother Joe D. Gibbs officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.Samuel was born on April 30, 1951 in Brenham, Texas to Willie Cunningham and Rosie Franklin. In 1956, he moved to Midland, Texas where he attended Midland High School and Midland College. He worked as an accountant for Shell Oil Company in Houston and in McCamey. He retired from the City of Midland. On January 15, 1971 he married the love of his life, Faye Phillips. In their 43 years of marriage they raised two daughters and became the proud grandparents of four grandchildren. Samuel loved to bar-b-q, play dominoes and chess, watch old movies, work in his yard, go to church, and he absolutely loved to laugh. Known as “PaPa” by his grandchildren, Samuel adored spending time with his family and considered them his joy. His incredible gift with numbers and witty humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.Samuel is survived by his wife, Faye Cunningham, of Midland, Texas; daughter, Sammie Howard, of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter, Sonia Judd and husband, James, of Hampton, Virginia; grandchildren, Shané Howard, Oscar Howard, Jr., Danielle Judd, and Camille Judd; mother, Rosie Jackson; and his seven siblings, Inez Eaden and husband, Roy; Marie Cunningham; Alice Brannon, Lestine Cunningham; Arthor Cunningham and wife, Cleo; Emma Lusk and husband, Larry; and Johnny Cunningham. He is also survived by 3 brothers-in-law, he considered his sons, Donald Phillips, Sr. (Sheri) of Richmond, Texas; Kenneth Earl Phillips (Stacy) of Rockwall, Texas and late Kenneth Edwin Pee-Wee Phillips; and those he considered his grandchildren, Donald Jr., Carrie, Amy, Joshua, Courtland, Sarah and Jalen.Samuel is preceded in death by his father, Willie Cunningham, and son-in-law, Oscar Howard, Sr.,
