Graveside funeral services with military rites will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Rev. Joel Miller, pastor of Birdwell Lane United Methodist Church, officiating.The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 7 PM Monday at the funeral home.He was born on November 20, 1923, in Fannin County. Mr. Payne served in the United States Army during World War II and was wounded in Germany and received the Purple Heart Medal.He worked in the oil field, in the service industry, most of his life. He loved his family, friends and golf. He was a Methodist.Survivors include two sons & daughters-in-law, Edgar and Cindy Payne of Big Spring and Paul and Linda Payne of Liberal, Kansas; one brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Rae Payne of Mesa, Arizona; two grandchildren, Delenda Payne and Brendan Payne both of Grand Prairie; and a nephew, Frank "Buck" Main of Midland.The family suggests memorials to: American Diabetes Association, Inc., Texas Affiliate, Inc., Western Regional Office, 8008 Slide Rd., Lubbock, Texas 79424.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
