How fortunate I was to have known Sammie. She was the real thing. I remember one particular band trip we took to Las Cruces - just me and Sammie in the car - talked and laughed until our jaws hurt. Without a doubt, she loved her family with all her heart. Just being around her for five minutes could lift your spirits. We always thought we had a special connection because we were both born on May 7th. Rest in peace, Sammie.
