Ruth Ellan Lechwar, a lovingly devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She fought a courageous battle with cancer for over five years, among other health issues. Ruth’s life was a testament to her strength, courage, and generosity.
In her professional life, Ruth served with dedication as a telephone operator and later retired as an accounts payable clerk for Agri-Empresa. However, her favorite roles were housewife and grandmother. After the passing of her beloved husband, Ron, Ruth found solace and purpose in her faith, pouring her love and time into her children, grandchildren, and her faithful dog, Maggie.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Jane Brown; her husband, Ron Lechwar; and her sister, Dale Garner. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in her surviving family: her son, Kevin McNew (Jennifer); granddaughters, Katelynn and Kellie-Jo; her daughter, Angie Cole (Shannon); grandchildren, Riley Cole and Lexi Cole; and her siblings, Victor Brown, Mary Burleson, and Dee Young.
Ruth’s life was a shining example of love and strength. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit and the love she shared will remain with us always.
A celebration of life will be at Mid-Cities, 8700 TX-191, Midland, Texas 79707 on Tuesday, July 9th at 11am.
In honor of Ruth’s love of dogs, memorials may be sent to the Midland Humane Coalition.
