Ruth Gibson, 89, of Midland passed away on February 9, 2009 at Midland Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at First Baptist Church with Rev. David Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, February 13, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. She was born on November 25, 1919 in Elizabethtown, Illinois to Sarah May Stacey and Ezra Dean Fritz. She moved to Big Spring in 1949 where she met the love of her life, Frank Pierce Gibson. She and Frank were married on July 3, 1950 in Lovington, New Mexico. He preceded her in death in 1996. She began her civil service career in Big Spring at Webb Air Force Base. She was known as a tax preparer in both Big Spring and Midland where she truly enjoyed helping people. Ruth was deeply loved by and involved in her Sunday School Class, "The Dorcas Class," at First Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed painting. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three siblings. She was also preceded in death by her son Arliegh McCree, a LA Police Officer. Survivors include daughter, Janette Escobedo and husband Daniel of Midland; sons, Vernon McCree and wife Peggy of Mayfield, Kentucky and Gary Gibson and wife Kathy of Midland; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Arthur Carrasco, John Gibson, Brad Lanier, Blake Gibson, Brian Rainey, and Donald Lee Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Dorcas Sunday School Class.
