Royal Tucker Duncan, Sr., 93, of Big Spring, Texas, died on Thursday, October 14, 2004, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, October 18, 2004 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with his nephew, Rev. Royce Litchfield, officiating, assisted by Chaplain Walter McCall of Odyssey Hospice. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.Mr. Duncan was born on July 28, 1911, in Anderson County, Texas. He married Myrtle Maye Grant on January 26, 1934 in Cayuga, Texas and she preceded him in death on March 31, 1992. He then married Lidora Dickey on April 17, 1994 and she preceded him in death on June 17, 2004. Mr. Duncan worked as a pumper for Getty Oil Company for 23 years. He was a longtime resident of Garden City, Crane and Winters, coming to Big Spring in 1992. He was a member of Berea Baptist Church; a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star.Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Autry Moore of Big Spring; his son, Royal Tucker Duncan, Jr. of Abilene; his son-in-law, Kenneth Scott of Big Spring; one step son, Ronald Dickey of Georgia; three step daughters and sons-in-law, Gwen and Arnie Collins of Big Spring, Karen and John Verhusen of Illinois and Rhonda and Mike Tyson of Illinois; seven grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Nell Duncan and one brother-in-law, Emon Grant. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Scott and 15 brothers and sisters.The family suggests memorials to: Odyssey Hospice, 1003 E.
