Interment will be at Pakan Family Cemetery near Shamrock, TX at 2:00pm on Tuesday August 7th, 2018.Roy Harrison was born on July 26, 1949 in Odessa, TX to Dennis and Betty Harrison. He was raised a native of West Texas. He spent most of his time having BB gun battles with his four brothers and lifelong friend, Jimmy Boggs. He became an accomplished high school athlete playing football for Permian High School and remained forever faithful to the \Mojo\. He joined the United States Navy Reserve in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1971 after active service in the Philippines. During his military service he reached the rank of Second Class Radioman.After returning to West Texas, Roy entered into law enforcement with the Midland Police Department. Law enforcement became his lifelong passion. He reached the rank Detective Sergeant with the Midland Police Department. In 1973 he received his Associate's Degree in Police Science and in 1976 earned his Bachelor's Degree of Police Administration. In 1983 Roy was promoted to Lieutenant over the investigation division of the Midland County Sheriff's Office. Over the next two decades he went on to found Harrison Laboratories, the first federally certified forensic laboratory in Texas.In 2001, Roy joined the Ector County Probation Department as a Supervision Officer. He retired in May of 2018 as Assistant Chief.Roy Harrison is survived by his loving wife of 37 years; Kathy Macina Harrison, Daughters; Brandi Hughes, Courtni Andrus, Jennifer Thompson, Son; David Chapman, Brothers; Mike Harrison, Rod Harrison, Tod Harrison, Dub Harrison and Grandchildren; Dylan Andrus, Cody Hamilton, Trevor Andrus, Peyton Thompson, Averi Hughes, Parker Thompson, Paxton Thompson, Alli Andrus along with numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.He is preceded in death by his Father Dennis Harrison and Mother Betty Emfinger.The family would like to express their gratitude towards family, JP Thompson and Tyler Chapman, close family friend's Jimmy and Leslie Boggs, Mike and Alma Thompson and their wonderful family, the Ector County Probation Department and numerous close family and friends.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association at https://phassociation.org/donate/ .Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home and Crematory of Midland.
