Roy Clayton Shaffer (Buddy), 71, of Big Spring, died Thursday, October 3, 2013, in a local hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Cotton and Associate Pastor, Joey Bacon officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.Clayton was born September 28, 1942, in Big Spring, Texas to Roy and Neva Shaffer. He attended Centerpoint School, when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 11. Though enduring lifelong struggles related to his tumor and being confined to a wheelchair for much of his life, Clayton maintained a positive outlook on life and was a blessing to those who knew him. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he faithfully worshipped and eagerly longed to learn more about Christ. Clayton was faithful in daily prayer and Bible reading.Survivors include his mother, Neva Shaffer of Big Spring; one sister, Connie Griffin of Midland; one niece, Lisa Eaker and husband, Robert of Sweetwater; three great-nephews, Garrison, Grayson, and Elliott Eaker of Sweetwater, his pride and joy. Other survivors include aunts, Rachel Shaffer, Mary Eggleston, Sue Whitaker, Karen Murphy, Jennie Shaw, Delores Andrews, Maxine Shaffer, and Rosy Lee Miller and numerous cousins.He was preceded in death by his father, Roy P. Shaffer; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R.P. Shaffer and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis McKee; a brother-in-law, Bill Griffin; two uncles, Howard Shaffer and Jack Shaffer; an aunt, Francis Thomas and an uncle, Raymond McKee.The family suggests memorials be made to Trinity Baptist Church, P.
