Roy Charles McKee, 90, of Midland passed away October 16, 2014. Visitation will be from 4:00pm-6:00pm on Sunday, October 19th at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home of Midland. Services will be held on Monday, October 20th, at 1:00 pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.Roy was born on April 25, 1924, in Glenpool, OK to Earl and Matilda McKee. He attended Drumright High School. After graduating from Drumright High School, he attended Oklahoma A&M and then joined the Army. Afterwards, Roy moved to Tulsa, OK where he worked for Skelly Oil. He then transferred to Pampa, Texas where he met the love of his life, Sarah. After a whirlwind romance, Roy and Sarah married on November 2, 1946. Roy and Sarah would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary next month.Roy's job took him to Sweetwater and finally to Victoria, Texas. He worked as a Gas Auditor for 40 years before retiring in 1986.He was a 34 year member of First United Methodist Church in Victoria, actively serving in many capacities. For several years, he enjoyed being a volunteer driver for Citizens Hospital, where he never met a stranger. Roy was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. His favorite pastimes include hunting, fishing, traveling to Lake City, Colorado with his family and friends, and enjoying many outings with their RV club. After retirement, they took many trips stateside and abroad. In 2011, they moved to Midland to be closer to family. He and Sarah attended St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Loyal and dedicated to his family and friends, Roy treasured the time they spent together.He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Herb McKee and grandson Bryan Holcomb.Roy is survived by his wife, Sarah McKee; son, Mark McKee of Cuero, Texas, daughter, Gale Holcomb and husband Kenneth Holcomb of Midland, Texas, 4 granddaughters, Shawna Runyan of San Antonio, Texas, Ashleigh Gunter and husband Seth of Midland, Alison Holcomb of Midland, Texas and Destiny Jenkins of Opelousas, Louisiana, 9 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at Compass Hospice, Home Instead, and Senior Care Center for the tender care given to Roy and his family.In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Compass Hospice,1330 E 8th St Ste 102, Odessa, TX 79761; First United Methodist Church, 407 N Bridge St, Victoria, TX 77901; or St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3011 W Kansas Ave, Midland, TX 79701.Arrangement are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.
