Ross Eldon Tomlin went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 4, 2018 at the age of 95.Ross was born on September 27, 1922 to Ralph and Bessie Tomlin in Quincy, Illinois. He was a veteran of World War II. He served in the Army Air Corps at Scott Field Belleville, Illinois, soon transferred to Midland Airfield, Texas and later to Lowery Field, Colorado. He served from November 1942 to December 1945.During his time of service, he met and married his first love, Dorothy Glynn of Stanton. They resided in Midland and had four children, Don, Dave, Dwain, and Dalynn. They enjoyed thirty one years of marriage until her passing in 1975.He started his career with Schlumberger in 1946 where he worked in the Permian Basin oilfields until he retired in 1977.During this time he met and married his second love, Joyce Ethridge Clements. After enjoying some traveling during retirement, they settled down to adopt two daughters, Shawna and Christina. Ross and Joyce were married for thirty five years until her passing in 2012.Ross loved his family, was proud to have served his country and lived life to its fullest. He has enjoyed his residence at Manor Park Cowden Cottage for the past six years.Ross was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Bessie Tomlin, his first wife Dorothy Glynn, his second wife Joyce Clements, his stepdaughter Linda Northcutt, grandson Bryan Tomlin, great granddaughter Payzlee Zarate, and brothers Lowell Tomlin and Sterling Tomlin.He is survived by his children, Don and Betty Tomlin of Midland, David and Judith Tomlin of Midland, Dwain and Karen Tomlin of Midland, Dalynn and Jim Blocker of Midland, Christina and Stefan Homes of Midland, and Shawna and Zach Kilborn of Austin, fifteen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, and, four great great grandchildren.A memorial will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Parks-Faudree Family Chapel at Manor Park. All are welcome to attend and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Manor Park Employee Christmas Fund.The family would like to thank the caregivers at Manor Park Cowden Cottage and Home Hospice of Midland for the great care they provided.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
