Ronnie H. (Ron) Westbrook passed away on January 21, 2017 in Midland at his home peacefully with family at his bedside. Ron was born on Mother’s Day May 12, 1940 in Odessa, TX. After the age of five he spent his early years in Oil Center, NM and in a Conoco Lease House 3 ½ miles south of Eunice, NM. His family finally moved to Eunice in 1954. Ron was proud to have gone all 12 years to Eunice Schools, graduating from high school in 1958. He then attended and graduated from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in 1962 with a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering. Immediately after graduation he went to work for the Continental Oil Company in June 1962. In October 1963 his country called and he went. After serving his 2 years he returned to Conoco in Odessa, Texas in October 1965. Transferring to Midland in August 1967, Ron left Conoco in April 1977 to join Mabee Petroleum Corporation. After it was determined that this Mabee Petroleum was going to be sold, Ron joined John H. Hendrix Corporation in 1980 and was employed until September 2, 2014.Ron married the love of his life Merlyn Westbrook on January 27, 2000. He also gave time to the junior achievements. Ron would want you to know how truly blessed he was with a wonderful wife, great kids, and wonderful people to work with. He truly felt he was the luckiest man on the face of earth. As you may know, Ron was a really private person.
