Romona (Mona) Snow passed peacefully at 85 in her home on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 with her family at her bedside. Mona Snow was born on July 3, 1929 in Oakdale, LA where she graduated from high school. When she was 18 years old, she was invited by friends to come to Midland to work in Colbert’s dress shop. Joe Snow saw Romona changing a mannequin in the dress shop window. They were married soon after November 23, 1950.Mona enjoyed golf and won trophies in a bowling league. She won an award for her original orange-slice cake. She loved music, had a great singing voice, casino tours, cooking, sewing, quilting, knitting, needle work, and visiting with neighbors. In the mid-1960’s she earned a real estate license from Midland College and was a realtor for Tall City Realtors. Romona was a neighborhood organizer and felt that good neighbors were the backbone of Midland.Mona is survived by her three children, Rheta Page, Duane Snow, and Vickie Collette; two granddaughters, Keely Collette and Danielle Collette; and five grandchildren, Alexis, Aubrey, Myles, Vincent, and Francesca. Mona is also survived by four sisters, Greta Richardson, Madelyn Mevis, and Jeanette Willis of Lake Charles and Aleta Barns of New Orleans, and a brother Earl L. Willis of Toledo Bend.Mona was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Snow; her parents Iva Tootsie and Earl Willis; her sister Patsy West; and her brother Rodney Willis.Mona was a loving wife and mother. She felt her neighbors were part of her family. She believed that amazing events are possible and miracles happen every day. We will all miss her.We would like to give special thanks to Dr. M. Miller and all of his wonderful staff for their understanding and care. We would also like to give a special thanks to Hospice Midland.A formal reception will be held Friday, August 22, 2014 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel.In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be directed to American Cancer Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital Crippled Children, Dallas, TX.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
