Roma Evelyn Thompson, 92, of Big Spring, passed away, Thursday, April 6, 2023. No services are planned at this time.
Roma was born November 9, 1930 to parents Willie (Wolfenberger) Chatwell and William Chatwell in Big Spring, Texas. She was lifetime resident of Big Spring. Roma was a waitress at Rip Griffin’s Truck Stop for over 30 years. She loved being a mother and a grandmother and took great pride in raising her children. In her younger years, she played powder puff baseball as well as softball. Roma was considered the Bingo Queen, as she was a fierce competitor and wanted to win. She was a sweet and loving lady and never complained about anything. She would rather do things herself than ask for help. Her hobby was embroidering and many times had her work displayed and sold at Elrod’s Furniture. She also enjoyed all flowers. She loved all animals, especially dogs and puppies. Her sweet nature and smile will be missed by many.
She is survived by two sons: Joe Thompson and William Ray Thompson, both of Big Spring; two daughters: Linda Hefley and husband Mike of Pottsboro and Glenda Trimble and husband Ron of Frisco; grandson: Michael Thompson (whom she raised) of Big Spring and several grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory. Online condolences can be made at www.npwelch.com
