Roger Leon Boyd

Roger Leon (Buddy) Boyd passed away on July 16, 2016 in his home, in Midland, Texas.He was born January 10, 1945 to Alva P. Boyd and Imogene Watkins in Bloomingrove, Texas. He married Janis Lyn Busby on September 12, 1969 in Midland, Texas. They were married 48 years. Their son Roger Michael Boyd was born August 10, 1972 in Houston, Texas. Buddy served in the National Guard and played roller hockey. He owned his own business as a wallpaper hanger for over 20 years, then, started  a business as a newspaper distributer for the New York Times. Buddy had a great love for adventure, hiking and camping in the mountains. He also loved the sport of tennis and was quite good at the game. Buddy had a tender heart for birds.Preceding his death were his parents, Alva and Imogene Boyd. He is survived by his loving wife, Janis L. Boyd, his children, Roger Michael Boyd, his wife Rebecca Boyd of Midland, TX and Beth Flinks and her husband Steve Flinks of Las Vegas, Nevada; his precious grandchildren Breana Boyd, Cole Basham , Madison  Boyd and Hailey Boyd; and his two beautiful sisters, older sister Alva Jean Emiston, her son Cary Todd Turner and daughter, Sherry Lynette Ray, and his younger sister Sandy Boyd-Dickson and her daughters, Kalli and Kenzi  Dickson and a host of cousins.Many thanks to Arvol and Totsi Brown for their unwavering love and support (true friends indeed).In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Midland.There will be a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel where friends are invited to join the family in celebration of Buddy Boyd.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home of Midland.
