It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the passing of Roger Dale Allen on July 25, 2017. He was born and reared an only child to Merle and Pauline Allen on October 22, 1926 in Enid, Oklahoma. By 1943 all of the boys in his high school graduation class decided to join the service. On the day after his graduation at 17 years old and a mere 130 pounds, Roger joined the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was stationed in Guam in the South Pacific as a radio man at Admiral Nimitz Headquarters. Roger was proud to serve this country from 1944 to 1946. On his return to the states, he headed to the University of Oklahoma. Roger joined Phi Gamma Delta fraternity following in the footsteps of his father and uncle. Roger graduated in 1951 with a law degree and shortly thereafter passed the Oklahoma Bar. In 1952, Roger entered the oil and gas business as the youngest landman in the district of Abilene with Lion Oil. It was here that he began a lifelong career and fascination with the Permian Basin. This passion would be with him until the day he died and would extend into New Mexico and Louisiana. Roger became founder of Falcon Drilling Corporation and became an Independent Oil and Gas Operator in 1957 and operated in that capacity for 60 years. In 1971, Roger established BANAM Corporation. He was a member of many civic and benevolent organizations.Roger met and married Barbara Kay Burt on August 7, 1958. Two lucky and grateful daughters ensued Amy Allen Fullerton and Angela Kay Allen. Both have one child. Amy with Jason Allen Dwyer and Angie with Tara Rose Marzolf. Roger is also survived by Sara Walsh and Dale Walsh from a previous marriage.Roger showed strength and love, courage and commitment right up until his last breath. Little armor is provided for the wound of our loss. He exemplified munificence as an incredible father, a loving, devoted husband and a loyal friend to so many.We would like to honor his colorful life with family and friends on July 29, 2017 from 4-7pm in our home 1600 W. Ohio, Midland, TX. We extend our gratitude to Hospice of Midland and all the excellent care from the staff at Midland Memorial Hospital.Dad’s Motto to Live By:Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO, what a ride!Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
