Roberta Perrin Stockton, of Midland, former longtime resident of San Antonio,died peacefully on May 24, 2004. A graveside burial will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2004 at Mission Park South Cemetery in San Antonio with Rev. Elmer Beck, pastor of Harlandale United Methodist Church, officiating. She was born May 9, 1913, to John and Willie Fannie Perrin in Boerne, Texas. The youngest of nine children, Roberta moved to live with an older sister in San Antonio in 1928, after the death of both parents.She graduated from Harlandale High School in 1930 as Salutatorian of her class. She attended San Antonio Junior College, then was an Honors Graduate at Southwest Texas State Teachers College, with a degree in Elementary Education.Roberta was married to Carl M. Stockton on August 29, 1936. He preceded her in death on October 8, 1956. The couple made their home in the Harlandale area. They were blessed with three children. After Carl's death, Roberta resumed her teaching career and retired in 1974. She was a life-long, active member of the Harlandale United Methodist Church, taught Sunday school, and participated in the United Methodist Women. Everyone dearly loved her for her kindness and encouragement. Survivors include one daughter, Roberta Ann Bailey and husband, Larry, of Midland, son, David Carl Stockton and wife, Linda, of Sugarland, TX; son, Royce Elmer Stockton and wife, Carolyn of Cibolo, TX; grandaughters, Kathryn Locke and husband, Brady of Midland, Karen Bailey, of Austin, TX and Sarah Cowan and husband, James of Sugarland, TX; grandsons, Paul Stockton, of Cibolo, TX, Bryan Stockton and wife, Shannon, of Reston, VA and Michael Stockton, of Sugarland, TX; great-grandchildren, Chase and Cole Locke of Midland, Ethan and Audrey Cowan, of Sugarland, TX and Justin Stockton of Kingsport, TN.The family suggests memorials be made to Harlandale United Methodist Church, 6025 S.
