Robert Whitfield Henson, eighteen, of Midland, came into the presence of the Lord this past Saturday, September 1, 2012. Born October 21, 1993, in Midland to Molly (Hughes) and Dale Henson, Robert affectionately known as 'Bob' or 'Whit', was the youngest of six children.Throughout his nine-year tenure at Midland Classical Academy, Bob was admired as an exceptional student. His aptitude in mathematics and grammar not only elicited praise from his tutors, but also served as a springboard for his hobbies of songwriting and blacksmithing. Aside from academics, Bob enjoyed singing in the choir, competing on the cross-country and basketball teams, composing music for guitar, as well as playing the bagpipes. Following the upcoming graduation from MCA, Whit planned to pursue a degree in the field of engineering.During the summer of 2011, Bob participated in a mission trip to Uganda with his church community at Midland Bible. An involved member of the youth group, Whit was active on the student leadership team, contributed to group discussions, and invested his time in younger students.Treating everyone with the same honesty, genuineness, and integrity, Bob was known as a friend to each person he met. Never one to complain about the faults or shortcomings of others, Whit made every individual feel both valued and special.
