Robert Thomas Vest died Wednesday, June 8, at his family's lake cabin on Lake Livingston, Texas. He was born January 21, 1943, to Hollis and Elsie Vest in Bay Minette, Alabama. Robert graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked as a Geophysicist for Texaco and Getty Oil before he formed his own company, Vest Exploration Services, and developed the seismic interpretation software program 3DSEIS. Robert was a loving husband and father, a Vietnam veteran and avid sports fan.Robert is survived by his wife of 39 years, Karen Vest, of Midland; son, Thomas Vest, of College Station, Texas; two daughters, Kimberly Vest, of Frostburg, Maryland and Sara Dunnam and her husband Matt, of Midland; sister, Shirley Taylor and her husband Jay, of Grants, New Mexico; nephew, Todd Taylor, his wife Sandy and their children Jarod and Lauren, of Phoenix, Arizona; brother, Andy Vest and his wife Pam, of Parksville, British Columbia; brother-in-law, Bruce Kistrup and his wife Claudia, of Denham Springs, Louisiana; nephew, Mattson Kistrup of Alexandria, Louisiana; and niece, Keri Kistrup, of Denham Springs, Louisiana. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Hollis and Elsie Vest of Brookhaven, Mississippi and his father-in-law Ray Kistrup of Kenner, Louisiana.The family will receive guests at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home, Tuesday, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Robert's memorial service will be held at St. Luke's United Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 15, at 2 p.m. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to The Red Cross of Midland or Meals on Wheels.
