Robert “Bob” Lancaster died July 12, 2015 in Midland, Texas due to congested heart failure. He was 83.Mr. Lancaster was born December 30, 1931 in San Angelo, Texas to his parents Louise and Marshall Lancaster. He served in the armed forces during the Korean War. After the war, he left the military to pursue a degree from Texas Technological College in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with a major in Accounting in 1959. He married Linda Crow in July of 1969. He took a position in the unemployment tax Division of the Texas Unemployment Commission in 1971. The Lancaster’s moved to Midland in 1978 where he was the head of the Unemployment Tax Office for the Texas Unemployment Commission of Midland. After several moves and promotions, Mr. Lancaster retired in 1996 from the Texas Employment Commission as the head of the Unemployment Tax Division in Midland, Texas.During retirement, Mr. Lancaster was a supportive husband and caregiver to his wife who developed Multiple Sclerosis months after they were married. He was an avid Rock Hound Baseball fan and an active member of the Midland Bassin’ Bunch. While a member of the Bassin’ Bunch, he volunteered and assisted with Special Olympics.Mr. Lancaster was survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda Lancaster; her daughter and son-in-law and granddaughters, Lesa and Tim Craig and Rachel McMahon and Jette Roberts; Linda’s son and daughter-in-law and grandson, Tim and Marilyn Jones and Chris Pitt; and brother and sister-in-law, Gerry and Cathy Lancaster.A viewing for Mr. Lancaster will be from 8:00 am – 9:00 pm, Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mr. Lancaster’s life.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
