Robert R. Pruitt, 66, of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, November 12, 2002, in a Dallas hospital. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 16, 2002, at the First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Roger Huff, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. He was born on June 15, 1936 in Morrilton, Arkansas and married Leta Perry on December 2, 1966 in Midland, Texas. Mr. Pruitt moved to Midland with his family at the age of 6. He came to Big Spring in 1971 from Tyler and went to work in civil service at Webb Air Force Base until the base closed. He owned and operated The Swap Shop, then later opened A-1 Furniture until 1996 when he moved his auction company to the same location. Robert was an auctioneer from 1977 until the present. Raised in the First Assembly of God Church in Midland, he was now a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He was involved in the Big Spring Revitalization Project and did many auctions for charitable organizations throughout the years. Survivors include his wife, Leta Pruitt of Big Spring; three daughters, Rita Anderson of Big Spring, Rhonda Gilmore and Monna Haley both of Midlothian; his parents, Willie and Oleta Pruitt of Big Spring; three brothers, Kenneth Pruitt, Billy Pruitt and David Pruitt all of Midland; one sister, Marilyn Boyington of Lubbock; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
