Robert P. Hayes, MD of Big Spring, TX passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013 at age 73. Visitation is Sunday, June 16th from 4-6 pm at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. The celebration of Dr. Hayes life will be held Monday, June 17th at 2:00 pm at Trinity Baptist Church, 1701 E. FM 700, Big Spring, TX.Bob was born November 18, 1939 in Malden, Massachusetts. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1967 and served in the United States Army from 1967-1971. He took care of the servicemen during the Vietnam War and had a great love and respect for the military. He came to Big Spring April 1, 1985 where he began practicing as an Orthopedic Surgeon at Malone & Hogan Clinic and served as president from 1990-1997. Healing and caring for his patients was his life-long goal. He has loved all of the physicians that he has come in contact with as well as their staff. He was on staff at the VA Medical Center in Big Spring, the Federal Prison System in Big Spring and had a weekly clinic in Snyder, TX. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed it up until his final days. With everyone that he met, he was always teaching and wanted to stop others from saying Dont make me think. As he Turns over a new leaf, he will be sorely missed by anyone he has come in contact with.He is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda Hayes. He is the devoted father of three daughters: Emily (Kyle Peters) Hayes, Angie (Chad) Williams, and Amy Jackson and four sons: Shawn, Patrick (Jaisy), Shane (Huyen), and Joseph (Paige) Jackson. Loving grandfather of Ryan Hayes, Reilly Peters, Jay Coley Peters, Zakerie Hayes, Dylan Aker, Jordan Hayes, Ellie Hayes, Hannah Cao Hayes, Collin Cao Hayes, Trevor Williams, Hannah Williams, KLeigh Williams, Ricky Prater, Joseph Kole Jackson, Brodie Patrick Jackson. Also survived by his sister Patricia (Joseph) Finegan, his mother and father in law, Jeanette and Butch Floyd of Sterling City, TX, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews. I wanted to give my deepest condolences to Dr. Hayes family, I had the unexpected pleasure of meeting him about 9 months ago when he did surgery on my knee, he was a very nice man and I truly liked him not only as a surgeon but as a friend. I send my condolences to the Hayes family. Doc and I knew each other from the country club and had some good times together. He and his lovely wife were a terrific couple. He will certainly be missed by family, friends and community.

Dr. Hayes was my families HERO. He must have worked on every member. About the three or fourth member he treated he looked up at my Mother and inquired how many more are their of you guys because we all had complicated injuries or birth defects. He was one of a kind that we just loved and he made the world a better place to be in. I also had the honor of working with him at Lea Regional in Hobbs New Mexico where I learned so much Dr Hayes . He made all of us better nurses when he taught on grand rounds . Our family is so grieved by his loss for he was so well thought of by each of us.

Condolences to the family. I didn't know Dr. Hayes personally, just as a former patient of his as a child and he took care of my children as well. He was a caring physician who will be missed. Prayers going out to both his family and the professional family.

We lost an angel on Earth. We so enjoyed our softball times with the Irish gentleman. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

With profound sorrow I express my condolences. Dr. Hayes was not only a colleague a friend but also a big brother to me He will be missed.

Words cannot express the shock my family is in right now. Even though I can't physically be there my heart is with my aunt and cousins as they go through one of toughest opsticals in life. I met Dr. Hayes in 1986. He's been my physician since then to present. I'm 54 now. I believe that I found the best doctor anyone could ask for that would be blount and straight forward. He did total hip replacement on me in 1986 one week apart. Later, I told him I couldn't touch my toes, He told me, Who told you to. He was such a great doctor, like a family member to me, the best of all he was a great friend. God bless Michelle, Angie, and his entire staff. It was like visiting family instead being just a doctors visit. We will miss him dearly, may God be with the family through this time. Dr. Hayes, may you walk with God and we'll just see you later. Rhonda--Angie and all the Hayes family------I am deeply saddened by the passing of my Dr--My friend Dr Robert Hayes. I worked in ER for close to 20 yrs and had the honor to work with him. May God comfort all of you in the days to come. SMMC will never be the same. I can just see him coming thru the door with his overalls on and a book in his hand. He was a great Doctor and I will miss him

Prayers are said for the family of Dr. Hayes. I got to know him when I had my knee replacement, he was kind and caring. Big Spring has lost a great doctor. Jesus will be waiting to greet him.
