Robert Nase Johnson, 74, of Midland, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2007 in Midland.Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, April 27, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church, 800 West Texas Avenue, in Midland with Rev. Shannon Weisenfels, Associate Pastor, officiating. He was born on January 9, 1933 in White Plains, New York to Alfred Nase Johnson and Mary Elise Gray Johnson and reared in Poughkeepsie. He moved to San Antonio, Texas as a junior in high school, and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1950. As a member of the class of 1954 at Texas A&M University, he graduated with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He was commissioned into the United States Air Force, where he completed basic and advanced pilot training before transitioning to helicopters. He started his professional life as a Petroleum Engineer in Levelland, Texas in January 1960 and spent the remainder of his career in the West Texas oil industry. Moving to Midland, Texas in 1981, he began work for O'Neill Properties in April 1981 and thereafter enjoyed the most satisfying work of his life. A man of many interests, he was an avid reader, Volkswagen collector & mechanic, model railroader & model airplane builder, Civil War buff, and antique and music afficienado. But he will be remembered most for his life-long love of flying sailplanes and was a charter member of the Permian Soaring Association of Midland-Odessa. He was preceded in death by his parents of San Antonio. He is survived by his wife, Jimmie Jean Johnson of Midland; his daughters, Lisa Dupuis of San Antonio and Ann Lievrouw and her husband Don of Helotes; his granddaughter, Leah Grace Lievrouw of Helotes, his sister, Nancy Mimms of San Antonio, and his cousins Chipman Stuart and his wife Lynn of Norman, Oklahoma, Charles M. Stuart, Jr. of Corpus Christi, and Bob G.
