Sue, Sara, and Wise family, I cannot think of any compliment I can pay to Lee that you do not already know to be true firsthand. I want to share with you one thing; I just recently learned that Lee and I use the same barber shop. I was there for a haircut and the barbers were telling me about Lee coming in just prior to his passing. Everyone there spoke so kindly of him, all calling Lee a hero and remarking how much he will be missed. I was happy and proud for Lee, you, and your family that he is so well thought of throughout the community and known as a hero even outside the fire service. I hope that someday you all are granted the grace and courage shown by Lee through his fight. God bless you all.

Sue, Sara and family, Gary and I have had so many opportunities to have Lee be there for us at such a low time in our lives. If you ever needed a big shoulder you could count on the fact that his was just a reach away. During three of these tragic events one of the most vivid memories I have is his smile to cheer us back up. I will forever cherish his love and devotion to all the MFD families but most of all how he was there through the worst and the best with us. Thank you for sharing such a gift of a man.Gary and Tamara & family

My dearest friend, Sue,It has been an honor for me to call you best friend for 54 years and I love you very much. I have no doubt that you and Lee were soulmates...perfect for each other. You defined each other and made each other whole. I always admired Lee, but until his illness, I had no idea what an impact he had on everyone's life that he touched. Not only did he touch Sara's and your lives, he touched SO MANY and I pray that those stories will comfort you. The outpouring of love is a testament to the kind of man that he was. What a legacy he leaves...a shining example of the way you should conduct life, on the job and off. I was blessed to know Lee Wise. Sending you hugs, prayers and lots of love, dear friend. I love you!LuAnn

Mrs. Wise and family! My wife and I wanted to personally tell you how sorry we were to hear about Lee. I worked with Lee when he first came on the MFD and immediately, I knew he would go far. After retiring, I'd drop by Central and if Lee was there and saw me, that smile of his that always seemed to light up the sky, would be the first thing I'd see, followed by that warm and sincere greeting he'd always give. We will all miss Lee but we understand that the loss of a husband, a father and a grandfather, can never be compared to the loss those of us who knew and worked with Lee feel. God bless you and your family and please remember, Lee is never far away; he will still look in on the family he loved from time to time to be sure all is well. Sincerely, Mike & Margie Stephens, 'A' Shift, Sta. 2, MFD (1975-1996)
