Robert Lee "Bob" Mathews was born April 28, 1956, in Shattuck Oklahoma, to JD and Mary Mathews. He met and married Charlotte Jean Carson while attending college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University on April 7, 1978. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry in the spring of 1979. He worked as a driver for a drilling mud company his last year and a half of college. When he applied for jobs with his brand new degree he found out he made a lot more money in the oil patch than anywhere else. He went to work for an upstart company as an Engineer in training in Farmington, NM and transferred to Casper, WY as a field engineer a little over a year later where their first daughter was born. He transferred in 1982 to Williston, ND less than a year later as district engineer. For four and a half years they froze each winter and dreamed of warmer places but the family prospered and two more daughters were born. They transferred in 1986 to Vernal, Utah where Bob was a district manager. They loved the mountains and lived seven years until his company was bought and they transferred again in 1993 to Clinton-Weatherford, Oklahoma, where his career and marriage had started. They transferred for the final time to Midland, Texas in 1994. Bob finished his career as division sales manager at Key Energy in 2009 when complications from ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease finally caught up with him after being diagnosed with the disease in 2006. Bob enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, sporting clay shooting, traveling, spending a lot of time with his granddaughter and laughing with his friends.
